Waddie Mitchell

My beloved brother the other day brought back a memory I had not listened to in quite some time.  Back in the 90's, I had picked up a record produced by Michael Martin Murphy, of cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell.  I don't recall exactly how I stumbled on it, but it is a jewel that my brother dusted off for me.  Thanks Bro!

Here are two of the best on the record.   Enjoy!

Swing Time!

January 16th is the anniversary of one of the catalyst points in the success of Swing music in the late 30's.  In 1938, Benny Goodman brought swing music out of the clubs and dives, and put it front of the masses with his Concert at Carnegie Hall.  This was a point in time, that pushed Swing music to become the most popular music in the country and world in the early 40's and would eventually launch what we all have grown to know as "pop" music.

Here are a couple from that important concert.

Rest in Peace, Teddy Pendergrass

The world lost a soul great yesterday.  Teddy Pendergrass was one of the great soul voices from the 70's and 80's.  Here are a few of his tunes to remember him by.

Happy New Year!

Now that the holidays are behind us for yet another year, we all start reflecting on our resolutions.  Mine is to lower this weight I carry around.  I though I would  do a set of "resolution" songs.  Things we all want to get rid of.  Starting with "Copenhagen" from Chris Ledoux for those trying to lose the tobacco habit.  Then to "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" from George Thorogood",  for all those that are cutting back.  And finally, "Fat Man in the Bathtub" live from Little Feat for all us fat guys.

Good luck to us all!
