Ike Cole - One of the Cole Bros

Here is Isaac "Ike" Cole's (the middle brother of the Cole clan between Nat and Freddy) 1957 release "Get a Load O' Cole".

This is a RARE recording, and thanks to my father for having it in his collection. This is not available on CD, so enjoy it online, here!

The Queen of Song

Its been quite awhile since my last post, what better way to get back into the swing, with the birthday of the Queen of Song, Billie Holiday!

The first popular jazz singer to move audiences with the intense, personal feeling of classic blues, Billie Holiday changed the art of American pop vocals forever.

One of the most truly unique artists of her time, she will alsways rein supreme as opening the door to so many jazz vocalists that followed here.

Happy Birthday, Lady Day!

Waddie Mitchell

My beloved brother the other day brought back a memory I had not listened to in quite some time.  Back in the 90's, I had picked up a record produced by Michael Martin Murphy, of cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell.  I don't recall exactly how I stumbled on it, but it is a jewel that my brother dusted off for me.  Thanks Bro!

Here are two of the best on the record.   Enjoy!
